Custom Size Mirrors with Stainless Steel Frames

Can you make custom size mirrors with the s.s. frames? if so, what is the largest width with the height of 36"?

Name: Kent Klueter
E-Mail: kklueter@gparchitects.org

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

We can make custom size mirrors. The width and length vary based on the available series of 165 Channel Frame and 290 Angle Frame series. The maximum size mirror we can manufacture in the 165 series is 72"w x 60"h and in the 290 series is 144"w x 72"h. These mirrors are more expensive than standard sizes and have an extended lead time. Pricing and lead time can be confirmed with Customer Service.

Paper towel sizes for C-fold and multifold units

Name: Nydia
E-Mail: nidiaclg@hotmail.com

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

Bobrick does not recommend specific brands so you can use any brand of C-fold or multifold towel just being mindful of the unit measurements so the towels are wide enough and long enough to fit without bunching or falling through the opening slot. For instance the B-369 towel cabinets measures 12 3/16" across and 3 15/16" wide. The B-369 paper towel dispenser is capable of dispensing 350 C-fold or 475 multifold towels You can purchase paper products and other cleaning supplies from local distributors listed on our website under Contact Us or via the following link: http://www.bobrick.com/Bobrick/Intl_RepDistSearch.aspx

Using Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers with Triclosan in Soap Dispensers

Name: Louvina Fernandez
E-Mail: louvinaf@chemcleantt.com

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

Our soap dispensers are designed to dispense soap and can handle antibacterial soap containing Triclosan or PCMX. Currently our soap dispensers are not able to dispense alcohol or iodine based products but, this is something we are exploring especially in the way of hand sanitizers. Our valves have not been tested with hand sanitizers so we cannot confirm if the sanitizer will properly dispense even without being alcohol based. Depending on the consistency of the sanitizer you plan to use it may or may not work with our dispensers. While this is an area of interest for Bobrick we currently do not have any products available for this purpose but please continue to check our website for updates on new products.

Using Stainless Steel in washroom located near the sea

Name: Louvina Fernandez
E-Mail: louvinaf@chemcleantt.com

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

Due to the acidic nature of salt air and water we would not recommend using stainless steel accessories as salt could negatively affect the material and lead to discoloration. We offer a variety of plastic soap dispensers in black, grey, cream, and white. All of our soap dispensers are available for review in our catalog beginning on page 21. Our catalog is accessible from our home page under Product and Service Information.

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

Green soap systems are an avenue we are currently exploring and are in the infancy research phase with no immediate plans to proceed with a Green Soap line. We understand the convenience and advantages associated with a bulk system but currently our B81212 and B81312 soap lines are not Green Seal Certified. We recognize the market is moving towards more and more Green friendly products and are working to move with the market. Replacement parts

I recently bought 3 Bobrick B-45 soap dispensers @ a Estate Sale. 2 which were still in the original box. None of the pumps work any more. My questions are, can I still get pump parts and is there a market for antique soap dispensers?

Name: David Klamm
E-Mail: dklammsr@yahoo.com

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

The soap dispenser you are inquiring about, B-45, is an obsolete unit and after some research it is determined there are no replacement parts available for this unit. This unit has been obsolete since the late 1980’s. The antique business is not a focus channel for Bobrick Washroom Equipment therefore an antique dealer in your area would most likely be able to provide information on antique soap dispensers.

Wall Protection Panels

Can the Sierra Series be used as wainscot wall protection panels? We want to add something to the existing GB wall without having to deal with trimming the edges and joints with other materials.

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick partitions.

Our 1090 SierraSeries material is designed as a toilet partition system. Using this material in a non-standard application is not something Bobrick recommends and will not provide material for. You may want to consult a general contractor to find the appropriate material to use as wainscot, as SierraSeries material is not designed to be used as wall protection panels.

.67 Institutional Hardware

Our architectural firm has specified your product for years. On the last 2 projects we've used the Sierra Series full height hardware (suffix .67). We have heard from both projects that the spring is being vandalized. The spring wires can be pulled out from the hinge, and can be broken or bent. The doors have been up for less than a month. The customers want these replaced, which can be done at a outrageous price. As these are one of the most vandal proof partitions, it seems to me you'd cover that spring.

Thank you for communicating this issue to us. Our 1090 SierraSeries Toilet Partition system is designed to be highly vandal resistant and perform well in high traffic restrooms. The material is designed and known for its superior durability and reparability with regards to scratches and graffiti. The SierraSeries is also dent, moisture and impact resistance. The .67 Institutional Hardware is a feature offering additional stability and support to the overall partition configuration. As well as providing emergency access, self-closing full height hinges and vandal resistant door stops. CAD Drawings

Need revit files for toilet partitions and partition doors.

Name: Nelda A. Keese

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick partitions.

The current CAD drawings on Bobrick's website are in DWG format. We do not have a plan to make the drawings in REVIT format at this point.

However, it is our understanding that the Autodesk Revit provides DWG compatibility using the Autodesk ObjectDBX™ toolkit. You may import and export models to DWG formats. When exporting, Autodesk Revit matches its components and their subcategories from the current view to AIA or user-defined layer names. You may also import these formats into 2D or 3D views. Shower Curtain

We have a Fitness Center in our company, and need to order new Shower Liners, how long do these liners last, how should they be cleaned, and how often should they be replaced?

Name: Rosa Perez
E-Mail: RPerez@cmegroup.com
Telephone: (312) 648-3647
FAX: (312 338-7132

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

The 204-2 and 204-3 shower curtains are warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and material under normal usage service for one year from the date of purchase. However, the lifespan really depends on environment and usage. It could last anywhere from three months to three years.

In regards to cleaning and maintenance, to remove mildew or dirt, use a soft scrubbing brush and a bucket of warm soapy water to brush it off. It is easily removed with a few strokes. Rinse well. We recommend mild soap. You may also use detergent, but, use sparingly and rinse well. Hang to dry.

Please avoid use of steel wool, which will tear the plastic. Avoid cleaning products containing bleach, hydrochloric or muriatic acid. These are frequently found in toilet bowl or tile cleaners and in abrasive scrubbing powders. These will dry out the vinyl and cause it to crack.

Thank you for your business and support for Bobrick washroom products.

Waste Receptacles

Some of your waste receptacles have spring-loaded hooks for holding a heavy vinyl bag. These hooks are very difficult to use so our people have to stick their hands in to pull out the trash. This is unsanitary and dangerous and, over time, they get dirty. All disposal bins should accept disposable plastic liners.

Some of your receptacles allow use of disposable liners but then the hooks get in the way and rip the liner upon removal. On others, there is no way to use disposable liners.

Perhaps I'm missing something your design team had in mind. If so, let me know.

As a matter of curiosity, where did the "cat 74" designation come from since it doesn't refer to the model number?

Name: Edward Samson
E-Mail: ems1412@hotmail.com
Telephone: 847 498-2206

Response

We are currently developing a LinerMate that allows for the use of disposable trash bags in addition to solving problems with existing liner units. It helps eliminate trash bag overhang in the washrooms and needs for vinyl liners.

Contura LinerMate Kits will be offered to retrofit ConturaSeries units. The model number for B-43644 LinerMate Kit is 43644-134. The model number for B-4369 LinerMate Kit is 4369-134. The model number for B-43944 LinerMate Kit is 43944-134. They will be available in July, 2009.

Classic LinerMate will be developed as an optional accessory adaptable and retrofitable to ClassicSeries units. We do not have a scheduled launch time at this point.

Sierra Series Partitions

Bobrick is certainly to be commended to some degree for your new Sierra product line of bathroom partitions; they are pre-eminently vandal-proof, and greener, and color-through is always a great option but I find that I am only specifying them under the most dire threat. The four colors that are offered are just a hair above ghastly and try as I might, I cannot bend the color schemes of the eight bathrooms I've recently had to design to fit around the severe design deficiencies of the Bobrick Sierra partitions. It simply defies logic trying to imagine why those particular four colors are the entire spectrum offered. Only a very short tmie ago "green" really did correlate with "grim" and designers - rightly or wrongly - resisted making the choice for sustainable products due to aesthetics but presently the wide line that once separated environmentally-sensitive products from the run-of-the-mill ones has all but disappeared. Except with the Sierra line of partitions. If there were any way I could get around using Bobrick in this case, believe me, I would find it. I am truly disappointed to have to settle for your product rather than getting to choose it without hesitation. Please believe me that I have no wish to abuse your companty's good name; I only want to stress, in the most emphatic way possible, the extent to which your company seems to have missed the boat on this line of toilet partitions

L. D. Reynolds
E-Mail: geniuslrg@comcast.net

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick partitions.

We understand your needs for more SierraSeries color offerings. The more colors the easier it is to incorporate the product into more restroom design and color schemes.

However, the wood fibers in the Trespa solid color composite restrict the pigments that can be used. At this time there are no other colors that will be added to the SierraSeries color offering.

The SierraSeries partitions were developed before the green movement to meet the design criteria for K-12 high schools. Their top needs for toilet partitions are Graffiti resistance, Scratch resistance, and Dent resistance. SierraSeries partition is the perfect solution to their problems. When the green movement started, Sierra became popular in another market segment due to the green feature of its material.

It is our understanding that there are other partition manufacturers offering color-through, green partitions with broader color selections, but the price of these partitions are much higher than Sierra.

If you would like to have broad color selection for green partitions, we recommend our plastic laminate partitions, and phenolic partitions. You can gain LEED points with these partition lines. And these partitions offer the most popular colors from top brands such as Wilsonart, Formica, Trespa, Nevamar, Arborite, and Pionite.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Anti-bacterial Soap

With the new flu-epidemic scare we have a lot of requests for anti-bacterial soap. Our Sure-Flo multi unit dispenser system uses your B-81212 1000ML pink soap, which is not anti-bacterial, but is anti-septic. Do you make a product, or intend to make a product that is anti-bacterial for the SureFlo.

We have no plans to introduce an anti-bacterial soap for the SureFlo Soap System at this point. It is our understanding that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has stated that anti-bacterial soaps are no more effective than hand washing with standard hand soaps.

Vandal Resistant Hook

Can you tell me the release force for the vandal resistant hooks? Can they be reset without tools?

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

The vandal resistant hook B-983 should release at 40 lbs. It can be snapped back up into the normal position after breaking away. It functions by means of a spring loaded ball detent that breaks away at a certain weight.

Paper Towel Dispensers

In needing 10 good paper towel dispensers that were an economical high volume type, I decided that I did not want to 're-invent the wheel' by trying several types to find a good dispenser.

Several months ago during my travels through Texas, located in a large airport in the mens restrooms, I noted that there were rows of Stainless Steel Bobrick B2860 hard roll paper towel dispensers.

I decided that this was probably an excellent choice, reasoning that the research and expense to find the 'best of the best' had already been accomplished by responsible airport employees.

Later on, after a bit of online research, I discovered the Bobrick model B-72860. I do not have a vandalism problem in our three family owned manufacturing facilities, plus this high impact plastic model is less expensive. I am guessing that this plastic model has basically the same mechanism as the B2860. Doesn't it?

- At this point in time, I made my decision that this Bobrick B-72860 was 'The One' for us.

- I called one of our suppliers and asked if he carried the Bobrick line. It was suggested by this supplier that instead of using this particular Bobrick model, that I try an alternative dispenser, a model in Kimberly Clark's line. -

Long story short, after listening to this saleman, I now have 7 each problematic KCC units and am experiencing the same two problems with all of them. -

1) Upon refilling the towels, the first 200 or so users pull down on the paper to dry their hands, only to find that the towel tears off on the two corners, leaving two small wet corners of paper towel in their hands. In my trial tests, this problem happens with high dollar Scott (Kimberly Clark) towels as well as low dollar generic towels. I believe that this is due to two reasons. One being that the towel roll is heavy when new, requiring a greater force to dispense, and the other is this KCC model may require a pull force of greater than the 1.8 lbs. found in MY idea of the best, a model B-72860 available by Bobrick. -

2) Upon installing a fresh large 1000 foot roll, for the first 200 or so users, the "emergency" feed knob on the side of these KCC "professional" insight units must be used to feed the roll. This occurs in about 7 out of 10 times. (So much for a clean "no contact with the unit" dispensing) -

Question please, I live in Phoenix, Arizona, and would like to know if there is a Bobrick paper towel dispenser distributor here in my area that would have my 1st choice, the Bobrick B-72860 paper towel dispenser in stock. -

I would like to personally try one Bobrick model B-72860 to see how it compares to the Kimberly Clark KIM 09990 units I now sadly own. -

Sincerely trying to "make many good things happen" at our facilities. -

Thank You for taking the time to read this sad story!

Bill Polk

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories. I am sorry to hear that you have had some unpleasant experience with Kimberly's paper towel dispensers. I am sure you were trying your best to "make many good things happen" in your facilities.

The B-2860 and B-72860 both use a roll-paper-towel mechanism. They both accept standard-core rolls up to 8" (205mm) wide, 8" (205mm) diameter, dispense one 12" (305mm) length of towel per pull, and accommodate up to 3-1/2" (90mm) diameter stub roll with automatic transfer to full roll. Also, they both require pull force of 1.8 lbs (8.0N) to dispense.

Grab Bar

I am working on an elementary school in NC where we have the flush valve bisecting the grab bar due to Chapter 32 Children's Enviroments NC Accesibility Guide Vol-1C. to the right of the water closet or flush valve we have the standard 24" grab bar to the left of the flush valve we need a smaller grab 8" (11" overall). Bobrick makes a standard 12" bar which won't fit since the centerline of the flush valve & water closet is 15" from the adjacent wall. In the past you have made this a custom bar. Do you still offer the option of making a custom grab bar smaller than 12"?

Response

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick accessories.

Based on the Bobrick quality standard and manufacturability of grab bars, the minimum length for straight grab bars is 11". The length is defined as the distance between two centerlines of the flanges. Both 1½" diameter and 1½" diameter are available.

Shower Seat

Sharp edges on B-5181 phenolic seat. Need advice about procedures for smoothing edges especially on slots. Also, any suggestions on reducing metal on metal noise?

Henry Shapiro

E-Mail: shapiro@dbpeds.org

Telephone: 727-579-7949

Response:

Dear Mr. Shapiro,

Thank you for your feedback.

The edge finishing procedure to cut the slots and edges of the seat usually leave a smooth edge. We will conduct a sample inspection of stock.

To solve the immediate problem, we recommend using a medium then a soft grit sandpaper to rub at an approximately 45 degree angle along the edges where you feel are rough.

Regarding the metal noise, we had not received any complaint before. Please advise the mounting height and installation details. We would like to have Engineering investigate and analyze the cause. In the meantime, maybe placing a small rubber pad or bumper where the metal is contacting will help reducing the noise.

Bobrick Blog

To Whom it May Concern, There must be some HTML programming issues with your blog because it shows larger than how it should be. It supercedes the screen. Also, would it be a good idea if you can provide a forum-type blog where topics are sorted out? I know this example I am gonna show is not related. Nonetheless, forum hosting within your blog can improve "customer service" and others for you. This is the example. It is a reef aquarium blog: www.reefcentral.com. Response

Phenolic Shower Doors

Our firm is a stocking distributor in eastern Canada and we've recently supplied phenolic shower doors with a stainless post on the hinge and latch side of eac door. Our customer has complained that each post are factory drilled to accept hinges. What they end up with is wall posts that are full of holes (12 per side) and nothing suppied to fill them. I've brought this to the attention of Bobrick Canada but thought it may benefit all distributors if we can change this. Thanks.

Response

Bobrick receives these posts from the manufacturer predrilled. If you would like a post that wasn’t drilled you can order it as a special.

1040 Partition Series

Is the 1040 series floor mounted partitions structurally sound enough to mount the grab bar to it?

Response

All Bobrick partition series are structurally sound enough to mount a grab bar to. Please remember that grab bars are no stronger than the anchors and walls to which they are attached and, therefore, must be firmly secured in order to sustain the loads for which they are intended.

Division of the State Architect – Access Compliance

I have been having discussions with Division of the State Architect-Access Compliance regarding toilet paper dispensers and protruding more than 4" into the stall. They are stating that toilet dispensers must be recessed and that your B-2888 is not a compliant unit, yet you denote it as a barrier free design. Is your unit an approved designed for the State of California. WE do not use recessed units due to maintenance issues

Response

In the Division of the State Architect’s California Access Compliance Reference Manual, section 1115B.7.1.3 states that “grab bars shall not project more than 3 inches (76mm) into the clear spaces as specified above.” The Access Compliance affirms that toilet paper dispensers should be within the same plane of the grab bar, and, therefore, cannot protrude more than 4”.  This code is their interpretation of the ADA Accessibility Guidelines, and although the 2888 may be ADA compliant, it does not comply with the DSA’s interpretation.  However, Bobrick’s 3888 recessed model does comply with the DSA’s requirements.

Company Information

My company is currently and correctly listed on http://www.bobrick.com/Bobrick/State_FL.aspx as a stocking distributor of Bobrick Washroom Accessories for the state of Florida. The contact phone number for us on that site is, however, incorrect, as in the fact that our website is shopping-cart capable. Having seen no visible or apparent link to a webmaster on the bobrick.com website how would these issues be best remedied?

B-2260 Waste Receptacle

A client of mine ordered the B-2260 waste receptacle. Now their tenant wants the swing top for this waste receptacle. I was informed by the Rep that the B-2250 is the only one to have the top. The 2260 and 2250 are exactly the same item, and Bobrick does not sell the swing lid separately. I can't possibly tell my client to buy another two trash cans because the lid isn't separate. Where does Bobrick obtain the lid from and maybe they will have a few to purchase.

Response

Bobrick does have the lid for B-2250, part number 2250-2. It may not fit the 2260 as this unit was designed without a lid. Although the B-2250 and B-2260 have the same dimensions, there may be differences.

Under Cabinet Soap Dispensing System

Are there plans to design an under cabinet soap dispensing system smaller than the current one. I like the concept, but the size is much to larger for my needs. I'd like to see something roughly half the size.

Response

Thank you for your comment on Bobrick’s SureFlo Soap System. We are aware of the market’s interest in a smaller size system. Although we have no introduction of a smaller size SureFlo Soap System at this time, our next version of the Soap System will include a smaller size.

Soap Dispensers B-822

Thru the years I have sold many of your B-822 Counter mounted soap dispensing systems. However, as technology is changing, Bobrick is being left in the dust; not to mention making things difficult for me. My customers (primarily large casinos)are really into the FOAM SOAP. They are ALL asking for a COUNTER MOUNTED FOAM SOAP DISPENSING SYSTEM. If you had one available, no problem, I would sell them yours. But, since you don't, I have to find one to sell them. Can you have one ready for ship by tomorrow? (Just wishing) (Unisource has one and is causing me and you business) Do you have one in the works???? If so, knowing that would be of some help.

Response

Thank you for providing input on customers’ interests in lavatory mounted foam soap dispensers. Bobrick is currently reviewing the market’s interest in foam soap dispensers, but currently we do not have an introduction date for them.

Soap dispensers B-155 and B-4063

Can soap dispensers B-155 and B-4063 also accommodate lotion?

Response

Free flowing lotion can be used as long as the soap dispensers are used frequently. Using a thicker lotion will cause it to dry and harden, resulting in congestion of the valve. This will also occur with a thinner lotion that is not used regularly. If this happens, it will need to be rinsed through with hot water.

Please, for the love of God, get your color charts on the web site done in a digital format that can be sent via email if copied from your site. It is very important when trying to help my customers make accurate color selections for your partitions in a timely manner. I get complaints from customers about the poor quality of the color charts and the slowness of your site.

Response

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We will be adding a high quality pdf file to each of our partition color chart pages. These files will allow you to easily download and email the color charts without losing quality. You can expect to see these files posted by the end of next week. Please keep in mind that colors displayed on a monitor or printed to a desktop printer will not accurately represent the true color of the product. These are just printed reproductions and are for descriptive purposes only. Request actual color samples for color confirmation. Guide and samples are available from Bobrick on request.

Antibacterial Soap with Triclosan

We purchased a B-40 soap dispenser. The instructions say to not use antibacterial soaps that contain Triclosan. The blog on 1/30/2006 says that all your dispensers work with commercially available antibacterial soaps with Triclosan. We have a soap with 0.15% Triclosan. Will it damage the B-40 dispenser?

 -Charles Hoelscher

Response

All Bobrick liquid soap dispensers are designed to dispense commercially marketed all-purpose hand soaps including liquid and lotion soaps, synthetic detergents, and antibacterial soaps containing PCMX and/or Triclosan.  Bobrick soap dispensers are not designed to dispense alcohol-based hand sanitizers or iodine-based surgical soaps.

B-233 CAD drawing

I'm having trouble downloading the B-233 CAD file from your website. Is it possible that you can email it to me? Thanks.

-Lillian

Response

We do apologize you were having trouble downloading the B-233 CAD drawing, we have noticed our users usually have problems downloading CAD drawings because the default CAD viewer attempts to launch the CAD file from within the Browser. One fix for this is to right click the file and choose Save Target As. Unfortunately our site does not have this option due to the programming code behind it. We are looking into this and will hopefully, permanently fix this problem shortly. You also mention Volo Viewer is prompting to pop up once you click on the cad link, Volo Viewer no longer supports  DWG files they have since changed from offering a free dwg viewer for their own format/file flavor.

As an interim work around, we have found that taking one or both of the following actions resolve the issue from the client side.

·        Use the free CAD Viewer eDrawings. This is available for download from http://www.solidworks.com.

·        Delete the dwg file type from the list of know file extensions in Windows. This will force the browser to prompt the user to save the file directly to their hard drive. Then the CAD Viewer application can be launched and the file opened directly.

Note: This action may have to be completed a few times if the CAD application re-associates itself with dwg files

Attached is a copy of the B-233 CAD file.

B-3570

What is the specification for a single sided B-3570 type toilet tissue dispenser? As well, do you have one without the sanitary napkin disposal for the men's washrooms? (double sided and single sided versions)

-carol

Response

The B-3750 has been discontinued, B-357 has replaced this units. The B-357 unit is also double sided but includes a seat cover dispenser as well.  A similar unit but for a side wall of a single compartment is B-3574.  The Technical Data Sheet is attached.

CAD Drawings

We've spec'd your washroom accessories, but the CAD files for the products I need are not showing up. When I click on 'CAD DRAWINGS', I get a blank page. I need these files: B-39003 Trimline; B-8226; B-3500 Trimline; B-3474; B-3574; B-6806; B-239x34. It would be greatly appreciated if you could email the CAD drawings or post them on your blog asap. I'm sure others are having the same problem downloading your CAD files. I'm using AutoCAD 2002. Thanks.

Tech Data Sheets

I'm having trouble viewing/printing multiple (6) Tech Data Sheets after selection process. I only get the error message ("the file is damaged and could not be repaired") when selecting numerous items. Could there be a problem with one of the product drawings? (3942, 132, 6806, 685, 682, 293)

-Mike Fugatt

Response

Thank you for your blog we are sorry to hear that you were having trouble with our website. I tested the batch printing myself direct from our web site.  I did not receive any error messages as you did but the system went to a blank white screen for over ten minutes and I had to reboot my system.  I then tested each technical data sheet individually with no problems. I am forwarding your blog along with my findings on to our MIS for further review.

Included in this email are .pdf files direct from our web site for the products numbers provided below.

Not Accessible Stall

Your barrier free guide is helpful but I find a note calling out conventional stall (not accessible) but I can't find these dimensions anywhere...is it 32"? 30"?34" wide???

-Ann Dilcher

Response

All accessible stalsl must be at least 36” wide, with an out-swing door in order for the opening to have a 32” open clearance.  Anything that would fall outside of this description would be considered a conventional stall or not accessible.

B-3900

I want to ask our architect to specify a recessed paper towel dispenser/waste receptacle like B-3900 in the restrooms in our soon-to-be-library. We have the original Bobrick dispensers that were installed in 1975. We use tri-fold white paper towels. When we load more than a half a package of towels, the weight of the towels causes several to fall out when one is pulled out. Has this problem been solved? Thanks.

 -Phalbe Henriksen

Response

There has not been a design change to the B-3900 towel tray opening.  The B-3900 has always had an adjustable towel adapter/guide that was used to adjust for the proper depth (width) of towels.  Does the unit you are referring to have this towel guide?  If not, we do offer and insert that sits on the towel tray and blocks part of the opening.  The part number is 330-26.

The coin box with lock and key for all the B-43500 vendors is 3500-86.  Two are required for each unit.  Please contact the nearest distributor to purchase these parts.  They can be found on the Bobrick website under Contact Us/Bobrick Representativesand Distributors.

1092 series

I am architect and have specified the 1092 series toilet partition latch for two previous projects for an institutional client. The owner has been complaining that students are breaking the little rubber handle off, (which is designed as a door stop) when the door hits the adjacent partition. I've talked to a few distributors and they said that Bobrick is aware of the problem (happening across the USA) but is not doing anything about it. Is there a recommended heavy duty replacement latch? I need a new latch for specifications as soon as possible. thanks

-Tom Peterson

Response

There may be an occasional failure due to a weak spot weld on a piece or failure due to extreme abuse/vandalism.  From our standpoint, Bobrick has taken the action necessary to resolve the field complaint problem of a bad batch of latches manufactured last year.  We continue to standby our warranty and provide replacements if they fall within warranty guidelines.

B-2112

Will the B2112 Classic Series soap dispenser dispense alcohol based hand sanitizer effectively?

-Russell Collison

Response

Bobrick soap dispensers are not designed to dispense alcohol-based hand sanitizers or iodine-based surgical soaps.  All Bobrick liquid soap dispensers are designed to dispense commercially marketed all-purpose hand soaps including liquid and lotion soaps, synthetic detergents, and antibacterial soaps containing PCMX and/or Triclosan.

Discontinued Models

To: Spec Department: A couple of workhorses have been discontinued by Bobrick. And they're not replacing them with anything equivalent. B-35704 (recessed TP dispenser and sanitary napkin disposal) and B-35709 (the surface mounted version of the other). -Tony Fodden Tony: This may be even more of a problem with the new ANSI requirements for a vertical grab bar in accessible stalls. ASI still makes TP Dispenser / Sanitary Disposal Units without the seat cover dispensers . BTW, I just discovered that Bobrick has apparently discontinued the B-269 swing-door undercounter mounted waste disposal unit as well. It was great as a diaper receptacle. Makes you wonder who's driving their marketing analyses. We also have a project at the World Trade Center where the seat cover dispensers are behind the can. Which is fine, but it sure would be nice if they had something like the B-357 without either the receptacle or the dispenser - thru-partition with two rolls each side, only. But noooooooo. Surface mounted 2-roll units will protrude 6 inches into the compartments. Think they'd do a custom?

-Brad Williamson, Callison Architecture, Seattle

Response

Thank you for posting your comments on the Bobrick Blog.  We do appreciate the input.

Regarding our discontinued models (B-269 Under-counter Waste Receptacle, B-35704 Recessed Toilet Tissue Dispenser and Sanitary Napkin Disposal and B-35709 Surface-mounted version of B-35704), we monitor demand for each product and when demand drops and remains low we discontinue models.  We note with interest use of the B-269 Waste Receptacle as a diaper receptacle.

When we discontinue models, we publish an “Alternatives to Discontinued Models List” on the bobrick.com website.  This list can be accessed from the home page by clicking on “Product & Service Information” and then locating the “Alternatives List” on the drop down menu.  We also listen to the marketplace for reaction to our decision to discontinue models.  Sometimes what we hear causes us to reconsider our action; see below.

Regarding a partition-mounted toilet tissue dispenser which provides two toilet tissue rolls in each side-by-side compartment, Bobrick discontinued its model B-386 and has received numerous requests for this unit.  We have listened to these comments.  We have reconsidered our decision.  We are currently in development of a new partition-mounted two rolls per compartment unit which will be available mid-year 2006.

Thank you for your interest in Bobrick washroom equipment products.

Re: Mounting Screws

This seems to be an ongoing issue: I contacted customer support for the set screws that ARE NOT available at any hardware store since they are proprietary. Using any other screw will be unsightly and unsafe since the heads on that size screw are larger and will not be able to recess into the unit. Your suggestion to contact customer support gave me NO other recommendation but go to the hardware store or buy new units. Why in the world would I spend all that money on new accessories for screws?? I realize large companies can just throw this stuff out and replace it, but I am a homeowner that decided to use these bathroom accessories in two rental units...any other suggestion would help.

Re: Mounting Screws

The set screws that secure the finish to the mount ARE NOT available at hardware stores. These seem to be proprietary to Bobrick. Can I buy these from you??

 - Michael LaRiche

Response

We would like to make a correction to the Blog Response for Mounting Screws on 11/29.  Set screws are included at the time of purchase and if you require additional or were missing these, they can be replaced.  Please contact the local Customer Service Department for the correct part number.  They will send these out if they were missing from the original shipment or refer you to an authorized distributor from which you can purchase additional set screws.  The answer posted on 11/29 pertains to mounting screws only, which are not always  included on some Bobrick products to allow the installer to select the correct mounting devices.

RE: Technical Data Sheet/Website

I totally agree!!!!!

-Kathi

Response

We now have a much simpler way to find and print single TD Sheets or custom packets of TD Sheets. If you only need one model, a quick search, by model number or description, will take you to the Product Detail Page. From there you can print, save to your hard drive or email the TD Sheet.

If you are looking to put a packet of multiple TD Sheets together our TD Sheet Packet Builder is a great tool. From the menu go to Specifications, Parts & Instructions and click on Technical Data Sheets (PDF). From here, click to select all the TD Sheets you want in your packet, and then click View/Print List. Again, you can print, save to your hard drive or email the TD Sheet Packet.

These methods can also be used to Print Installation Instructions and Product Specifications.

Currently the Packet Builder pages are organized first by Category and then by Model number. This is done to replicate the organization of our hard copy catalog. Your suggestion to list by Model number first is a good one and we will look into adding this functionality.

You may want to review the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and check the ingredients for anything with Chloride, such as like Ammonium Chloride.  Chlorides in soap will react to the stainless steel and cause discoloration.
